Saba Dance Theater, a not-for-profit organization founded on the principles of equality and freedom
of expression, is committed to bettering society through art education. The companys main
objectives are to break societal and stereotypical barriers, offer a multicultural performing
platform for emerging artists, and expand the importance and value of the arts and the artist
community. The repertoire focuses on common topics affecting peoples everyday lives, such as
human connectivity, love, and identity, as well as the darker issues of family dysfunction, abuse,
oppression and discrimination. SDT explores these themes from diverse points of view through
multiple art forms, including dancing, acting, singing and music, and collaborations with other
artists in an effort to reach out to all communities. In addition, SDT participates in a number of
childrens and youth programs throughout the boroughs of New York, including the French
Institute Alliance Françaises Childrens Program, and presents lecture-demonstration
workshops followed by Q&A sessions, where children have an opportunity to interact with the artists
and company members.
